Merzouga is best for travelers who want to experience the large Erg Chebbi sand dunes and can dedicate at least three days to the journey. Zagora is closer to Marrakech and works well for a two-day trip, but its desert landscape is different and does not have the same large dunes as Merzouga.

We recommend at least three days. The distance between Marrakech and Merzouga is considerable, so a three-day itinerary allows time for important stops such as Aït Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley, and Todra Gorge while including an overnight Sahara experience.

Most of our Merzouga and Zagora desert itineraries include a camel experience and an overnight desert camp. Inclusions can differ between tours and accommodation categories, so check the individual tour page for the exact services included in your booking.

Tours generally depart from Marrakech, with pickup arrangements confirmed before departure. Depending on your accommodation and the type of tour booked, pickup may be arranged from your hotel, riad, or an agreed meeting point.

Yes. A Marrakech-to-Fes desert tour is an excellent alternative to returning to Marrakech. The route combines southern Morocco and Merzouga before continuing north through the Middle Atlas to Fes.
